Known as the Festival City of the World, Edinburgh's peak summer period sees its population double in size. Whether you are getting married in Edinburgh or celebrating Christmas in Edinburgh, you can most of the information on our website.
Edinburgh is a sight to see at any time of the year as it is built on beautiful natural landscapes and is home to 160 public monuments and no less than four castles. The Edinburgh Festival attracts audiences and performers from every corner of the world. With a range of artistic events, exhibitions, classical music, opera, dance and dramatic, comedic and modern performances, there is always something to see and do anytime of the day or night, so much so, you'll feel like you're missing out if you sleep at all!
The performances are spread through six major concert halls as well as numerous smaller venues for the three weeks of the Festival. The Festival is on this year from August 13 to September 3.
The Festival was first held in 1947 in the wake of the despair of World War II. The founders aimed to enliven and enrich the cultural lives of Europe, Britain and Scotland as well as create a major source of tourism revenue. These ideals are still being met, 60 years after the first Festival.
The key venues of this year's Festival are the Usher Hall, the Festival Theatre, the Edinburgh Playhouse, the King's Theatre, the Royal Lyceum Theatre, the Queen's Hall and The Hub.
To make your way around these venues, why not get a group of friends together and hire yourselves a stretch limousine to get you around the festival in style, you may even be mistaken for a performer!
