Finding a dress for your bridesmaids that compliments each girls' colouring, figure and tastes, can be a tricky task. Here are a few tips to help everyone get what they want.

As the bride, you have the final say over the colour and style of the bridesmaids' dresses. Consider whether it will compliment your wedding dress as well as the girls' figures, while keeping to their budget. It is a good idea to flip through magazines and search the web for ideas of styles and take all the girls shopping so they can find a dress they are comfortable in.
With regards to colours, you may want to make sure the colour of the bridesmaids matches the colours of your wedding décor. If this is impractical, you may want to choose more neutral colours such as platinum, black, pale yellow or sand. Or you can match the dresses to the season by choosing shades of burgundy for an autumn wedding for example.
If your bridesmaids are all very different, you may want to choose the colour and fabric of the dresses and the girls can choose a style they are comfortable with. Alternatively you can choose the style of the dress and the girls can choose a colour they like.
When you have found a colour and style that suits all of you, get your bridesmaids professionally measured and fitted. Also, as soon as you have found the dresses you want, make sure you order them as many manufacturers will discontinue or change their styles every few months. You will also need time at least three weeks before the wedding to re-fit the dresses and have any alterations made. You will have to keeping mind the season of your wedding too and not choose a short strapless bridesmaid's dress for a winter wedding.
Above all, when choosing your bridesmaids' dresses, try to think about dresses they will be comfortable in. These are girls who are special to your life and you don't want them to be uncomfortable or embarrassed on your wedding day.
