The Oklahoma City Police Department have found that the limo hire industry in Oklahoma is predominantly going for the easy option and are seeking to tighten the net around those limo hire companies who are operating unlicensed.

The local police are therefore investigating many of the limo hire companies in the area with some startling findings. Some of the police have been going undercover and hiring limousines to enable them to see the limo hire companies in action and monitor their service and behaviour, as well as do spot checks on the drivers and the limo hire company operators.

The Oklahoma Police uncovered a variety of offences from unlicensed and unsafe limousines to limo hire companies which were advertising publicly without a city issued license to run a hire business.

For offences such as licensing, often both the driver and the limo hire company operator are charged as they are both at fault and both inadequately licensed. The police have found that the limo hire companies easily operate illegally by advertising in the Yellow Pages and on internet sites, sometimes even using a number of business names linked to the same phone number to increase their business.

The police checks on the limo hire industry are a regular occurrence and in the past, some limo hire companies were simply issued with a warning. The warnings were issued in the hopes that they would encourage the offending limo hire companies to become compliant and fully licensed, but the follow up on the warned limo hire companies has found that actual enforcement action must be taken.
