Limo Hire Scam
There have always been people out there looking for a quick way to make some easy money. Instead of working hard and doing their best within the law, they decide to take advantage of others and use any number of scams to get products, services and cash for nothing.
With the popularisation of the internet and email, it is now easier for these scammers to scam people from all around the world at the click of a mouse. While some people do fall for these scams, others argue that if they are silly enough to fall for the scam, they deserved to lose their money.
However, it is not just through personal emails that the scammers find victims, they often search industry websites and target businesses which are used to dealing with large amounts of money and international business and money transfers, businesses like limo hire companies.
Scammers often use the same scam on many different people and businesses and simply change small details such as dates and names. A scam which has been doing the rounds of limo hire companies is one which involves not only limo hire, but expensive multimedia equipment too.
The scammer will contact the limo hie company and request limo hire for them and their business associates while they are in the country for business. They promise to pay the invoice for the hire by cedit card before they arrive in the country but they also need a bit of extra help.
They are also asking the limo hire company to buy them a number of LCD TVs, it I often changed to mobile phones too, which they need for a trade fair. The limo hire company is then asked to pay for the TVs, shipment and insurance and in return is promised a bonus for their extra effort. The scammer then promises to pay for all expenses when paying for the limo hire.
Most limo hire companies and most of the general public are aware when they are looking at an email from a scammer, but it is important to know that the scammers are very clever and do not just take advantage of you, but they target big business as well, so think carefully before replying to strange emails.
