Wedding Flowers...

Every girl loves a beautiful bouquet of flowers, whether for her birthday, Valentine's Day, anniversary or wedding day.

Quality flower displays have the ability to brighten a function centre, give atmosphere to a cold church and make your bridesmaids glow.

First, work out what type of flowers fit your wedding's theme and of course which flowers are your personal favourites. Good florists may be heavily booked so start looking as soon as possible. It may be that the flowers you want won't be in season on your wedding day, so consider if it is practical to have them imported.

When choosing your bouquet, take a swatch of fabric from your dress and your bridesmaids' for the florist to consider. Having a long bouquet will create a tall streamlined effect, while clustered posies will draw attention away from the height of taller brides. Also, if you have a detailed dress, choose a simple bouquet to compliment, not obscure your bridal party.

Other important flowers include buttonholes and corsages for the parents of the bride and groom and the groomsmen. To ensure consistency and style, you may also want to have flower arrangements at the home of the bride, decorations on the pews of the church and of course at the reception.

Some reception venues will have flowers included in their packages, but make sure you are happy with the flowers and the amount they will provide. Smaller venues may only require floral table arrangements while larger venues will also need urns of flowers and foliage.

You can create the style and look you want with very little cost by choosing flowers which are in season and planning their positioning. However, don't scrimp on your florist as flower arranging is an art and you want your displays to light up the room and last the distance.
